Supervisor Approval of Application
1. Approval of attendance.
To become a safeTALK trainer, candidates must attend two full days of in-person training. If candidates have not completed an ASIST workshop in the previous two years, they will need to be present two additional days to participate in ASIST. These days will be full and require complete engagement. During ASIST and the safeTALK T4T, to the extent possible, training candidates should not be on call or expected to respond during the day to other items of business.
2. Provide safeTALK training.
We ask participating campuses, in partnership with The Campus Suicide Prevention Center of Virginia (CSPCV), to provide safeTALK trainings to students and staff on your campus at no cost. At a minimum, CSPCV is asking each trainer to provide five (5) safeTALK trainings within two years of participating in the safeTALK T4T, with at least three (3) being in the first year. Our office will provide participant kits for these required trainings. CSPCV will provide all training materials for your first three safeTALK workshops.
By signing, I:
- Understand and give permission for the trainer candidate to be absent from other work duties so that they can be fully present for the safeTALK T4T (and ASIST workshop, if relevant).
- Agree to implementation of safeTALK on my campus.
- Understand the commitment to the CSPCV that each candidate trainer is required to provide, at a minimum, three (3) safeTALK trainings in the first year and five (5) trainings in total within two years of completing the safeTALK T4T training.
