safeTALK Training-for-Trainers (T4T)
Become a safeTALK Trainer on your campus!
Why? So you can empower others with the skills to help someone with thoughts of suicide to keep safe, access help, and find hope.
The Campus Suicide Prevention Center of Virginia aims to increase the suicide prevention skills of Virginia’s students, faculty, and staff.

SafeTALK is a 3-hour workshop that prepares participants to identify someone who might be having thoughts of suicide, apply the TALK steps (Tell, Ask, Listen and KeepSafe), and then connect the person to more advanced intervention caregivers. Typical participants on a college campus include faculty and student support staff, resident assistants, peer helpers, student leaders, and anyone in a “natural helper” role.
safeTALK Training for Trainers (T4T) is a two-day workshop that prepares candidates to become safeTALK trainers. Candidates learn to present the half-day safeTALK suicide alertness training on their campuses. The T4T course offers a positive and supportive learning environment, characterized by mutual respect and appreciation for differences.
Important Info:
- If your application is accepted, we will cover the tuition costs (value: $1,200). Meals, lodging, and transportation will be at your own expense.
- In exchange for CSPCV funding your training, you will be expected to deliver five safeTALK training workshops over the next two years (three are required in the first year to become a registered trainer with LivingWorks ). Most, if not all, of these can be on your campus.
- CSPCV will provide all training materials for your first three safeTALK workshops. More materials may be available, but it depends on our funding and the number of requests received.
- We can also assist you with coordinating safeTALK workshops on your campus!
Upcoming:
We do not have any open applications for safeTALK T4T workshops at this time. Future workshops will be announced via email.
