Faith Sams

Faith Sams, B.A.

Administrative Assistant

Faith Sams joined the team in August of 2019. She has recently relocated to the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia after 15 years in Austin, Texas. Faith holds a B.A. in Political Science from Dickinson College. She has a lot of work experience in human services oriented organizations including United Way for Greater Austin, the Texas Child Support Division, and most recently a holistic health coaching practice. Faith looks forward to helping this team increase its capacity to impact more lives. Her interests include cooking with locally sourced farm-fresh ingredients; her kitchen pets- she brews kombucha, makes sourdough bread and is working on her kefir cultures; personal finance- it’s the only content she’ll surf online; giving reiki- she’s a practitioner; and reading non-fiction or memoires addressing socio-economic stratification in America. Faith is married and has a daughter in pre-school.

Danette Gibbs

Danette Gibbs, Ph.D

Director of Research and Strategic Planning

Danette Gibbs works with campuses to help them strategize for comprehensive mental health promotion and suicide prevention. Danette believes that prevention work is essential to address the consistently rising rates of mental distress in our country and among our students. Prior to her current position, Danette was an associate professor of psychology at Longwood University, where she grew her passion for helping students overcome the many obstacles they face to obtain their degree and achieve their dreams. Related to her interest in community approaches to systems change, she has also been involved with the development and growth of multiple community coalitions, including both a suicide prevention and a community health coalition in the Piedmont region, as well as an inclusive wellness coalition in the Shenandoah Valley. Danette holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Toledo. She is married and has a one-year-old daughter, and loves spending time with her family and in nature.

Sean Paige

Sean Paige

Digital Media Director

Sean brings our training and prevention concepts to life by animating and producing our video content. He received his B.S. in Media Arts and Design with a concentration in Digital Video and Cinema from James Madison University. Prior to completing his degree, he served in the United States Army for six years. Knowing several families whose lives have been affected by suicide, Sean is passionate about CSPC's mission and happy to work alongside this team. In his free time, he enjoys nature photography and hikes with his dog, Sir Baby Dewart.

Gabe Anderson

Gabe Anderson, M.S.

Technical Coordinator and Webmaster

Gabe is the technical coordinator for the Campus Suicide Prevention Center's upcoming implementation of Project Echo. He also serves as the webmaster for this website. Gabe has a master’s degree in community and college counseling from Longwood University, a bachelor’s degree in psychology also from Longwood, and an associate’s degree from Richard Bland College. While not formally trained in technology, he has been around computers since his early childhood and has taught himself how to use an extensive repertoire of technologies. He has also taught himself how to code websites and even builds his own computers. When he's not at JMU, he works for Carilion Clinic in Roanoke as a crisis counselor for the department of psychiatry's crisis division known as Connect. Additionally, he has assisted with Carilion Clinic's implementation of Project Echo for their Office Based Opioid Treatment or OBOT program. Gabe has a wide variety of other interests and hobbies including amateur photography, finance and economics, behavioral theory, history, and science. Gabe is married and while he has no children, he does have a very curious cat.
